Sunshine Beach State School
- 学校概况
- 院校简介
Sunshine Beach State School was established in 1982. It is located on the western boundary of Noosa National Park and services the urban communities of Noosa Heads, Sunshine Beach, Sunrise Beach and Peregian.
The community consists of residents from a markedly wide range of socio-economic circumstances. Tourism, building trades and small business are the major local industries. Leisure plays an important role in the lives of residents in this rapidly growing community.
The P&C Association is actively involved in the school at fundraising, classroom volunteer and management levels. Members of the P&C serve alongside staff members on the School Council.
A substantial number of parents/carers in the school are trained volunteers who give their time generously to assist our Sunshiners.
Learners
Current enrolment includes approximately 815 learners from Prep to Year 7.
Enrolment growth has been steady over recent years.
The learner population includes a small group of learners from non-English speaking backgrounds (10%). A significant number of our learners were born in other countries. A small group of Aboriginal -Torres Strait Islander learners (2%) as well adds a rich diversity to our school culture.
A markedly high level of atypical transience in the learner population is a result of the resort nature of the area and adds to the complexity of and impact on curriculum provision. Many arrive from southern states throughout the year. Both staff and learners are used to new learners arriving and welcome them warmly throughout the year.
The majority of learners are self-managed. Programs are provided to assist other learners to achieve this as a desired outcome. Our learners have a fine reputation for choosing responsible behaviours.
